| I just heard a stupid question on TV: "Is the war on terror winnable?"
The follow on question being of course: if not, then why keep fighting it?
Does anyone honestly think that if the United States pulls out of every foriegn nation that currently have Americans in that the war on terror will end? Even if we pull every AMERICAN (to include businessmen and any American National) back home and then close off our borders to the international community, does anyone really think that there won't be several thousand suddenly bored and well funded terrorists trying to figure out what to do with their free time?
Does anyone truly understand that these people HATE America? Does anyone understand what HATE really MEANS? I'm working in the Balkans right now. Serbs and Albanians truly HATED each other here. Hated each other enough to take entire families and murder them. Now when I say families I don't mean a family of five and their golden retriever like you're thinking...I mean an ENTIRE BLOODLINE! Mom, Dad, three kids, the dog, Nana, Gramps, Uncles, Aunties, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins...sometimes hundreds of people. Oh and they usually raped the females first, in front of the men. Then they took the men out and shot them. Sometimes they killed an entire clan in front of the patriarch and saved him for last. They beat pregnant women so badly with clubs that they turned their heads into red paste in a broken bowl.
That's HATE. That's what HATE means. These radical, fundimentalist, Wahhabist terrorists HATE America. If we stop fighting the War, that would just make it easier for them to kill us. We can never give up. Because THEY won't stop! EVER!
I know it doesn't make sense, and it's not rational. But how rational is it to strap layers of explosives around your waist and then go and detonate yourself in the middle of a crowded market to kill civilians?
Even if the War on terror was not winnable, I wouldn't stop fighting it...all of you mean too much to me for me to stop. |
